He picked up the assist for the first goal for Chelsea tonight in the FA Cup Round of 16 tie against Leeds tonight, as the Blues went into half-time with a 2-1 lead.

The half was highlighted by a great performance in a central role by Mykhailo Mudryk, who was on the scoresheet too.

Before the game, McAnuff was critical of Caicedo’s role in the side up to now.

McAnuff criticises Caicedo

He said: “He’s been a big issue because he’s the one who has to start attacks and build attacks from that number six position and I don’t think he’s quite good enough.

“At Brighton he was surrounded by players like Billy Gilmour and Pascal Gross who would drop into those positions and help him out where that responsibility wasn’t solely on his shoulders whereas now Enzo wants to get forward, sometimes he vacates that midfield and I just think they have been too open at times.”

Caicedo’s price tag will always leave him needing to prove himself, however improvements in recent weeks should give Chelsea fans confidence he can be a great player for the future.
