After Cole Palmer, Chelsea want to give 'integral' £65k-a-week player a new contract - journalist
Chelsea officially tied Cole Palmer down to a new contract this week, and their focus will now reportedly turn towards one of his teammates.
Chelsea announced on Tuesday night that Cole Palmer has signed a contract extension with them. The 22-year-old attacker has signed a two-year extension, which means his new deal now expires in 2033.
Palmer’s been rewarded for a stellar debut season with the Blues last year, scoring 25 goals and making 15 assists in 45 games across all competitions.
It was recently claimed by The Telegraph that Chelsea believe Palmer can improve under Enzo Maresca. There is the advantage that the left-footed attacker previously worked under the new Blues head coach when they were at Manchester City.

Nicolas Jackson may be next to get Chelsea contract extension
According to journalist Matt Law on X, Chelsea would like to follow up the Palmer business by extending the contract of Nicolas Jackson.
It is explained that the Blues want to reward the 23-year-old striker for his positive first season with the club by extending his deal by a further two years.
Apparently, there’s likely to be conversations between all parties in due course.
As it stands, Jackson’s already on a long-term deal with the club that doesn’t expire until 2031. However, his current £65,000-a-week wage (Spotrac) means he’s nowhere near the top earners in the squad.
Nicolas Jackson is ‘integral’ to Chelsea
In fairness, Jackson did deliver a pretty solid first year in English football, albeit there were times his finishing let him down.
The athletic centre-forward finished up with 17 goals in 44 games across all competitions last term as the club’s main No 9. Hopefully, it’s the perfect platform for him to build on moving forward.
GiveMeSport reported last month that Chelsea view Jackson as an ‘integral’ player, someone who’s key to the project. It’s certainly going to be very interesting to see how he goes in his second season now he’s fully integrated into the club.
If Jackson is handed a contract extension in the near future, it’ll show a big sign of faith in him.
