'An outstanding season': TalkSPORT pundit questions if Enzo Maresca actually wants £34m Chelsea man to leave
Chelsea seem very happy to offload quite a few of their players before the transfer window closes this summer.
The above includes the likes of Conor Gallagher, Trevoh Chalobah and Romelu Lukaku. In fact, Chelsea would be delighted to get rid of Lukaku.
The striker has no future in west London after spending the last two seasons in Italy, and Lukaku’s departure could see Victor Osimhen join Chelsea.
Having been in the market for a new centre-forward all summer, Chelsea would be extremely happy with that.
Former Arsenal winger Perry Groves has questioned, though, whether Enzo Maresca really wants to see one of his players go.

Perry Groves on Enzo Maresca and Conor Gallagher
Gallagher could be heading for the exit door, with transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reporting that Atletico Madrid are hoping to complete a €40m (£34m) deal for the midfielder.
There has been talk about Chelsea feeling that Gallagher is not a good fit for the new Chelsea manager‘s style.
However, Groves is not too sure about those claims. Speaking on talkSPORT, he said: “The way they have handled this situation shows a complete lack of class, a complete lack of respect. We know football is brutal, all right, it is basically. You are a commodity. To say to somebody, ‘Right, you are not training with the first team’, the club captain, by the way, who had a really good season last season, they are saying that they don’t think that he can play the way that Enzo Maresca wants him to play.
“Now, has Enzo Maresca actually said that? Because last season Conor Gallagher, he had an outstanding season. I was looking at his stats. He played 37 Premier League games, created 73 chances, five goals, seven assists.
“That’s from a player who was playing in the two, holding midfield player, and Chelsea won the last five games of last season with him and [Moises] Caicedo in midfield.”
Gary Cahill wants Gallagher to remain at Chelsea, but it does not look like the former Blues captain will get his wish.
Does Conor Gallagher fit Enzo Maresca’s style?
Gallagher is not a midfielder renowned for his passing and retaining possession. His best attributes are probably his energy and winning the ball back.
Last season, for example, Gallagher made 2.3 tackles per game, which was the third-highest average in Chelsea’s squad (WhoScored).
Ultimately, there probably are players at Stamford Bridge who are more compatible with Maresca’s style of play than Gallagher.
That being said, that surely is not the actual reason why Chelsea are pushing the 24-year-old towards the exit door.
Gallagher has less than 12 months remaining on his contract now. The club’s owners will not want to lose him for free next summer, especially in this era of PSR. That is probably their main motive behind trying to sell the England international in this transfer window.
