'He is doing': Filip Jorgensen gives his honest opinion on Robert Sanchez's performances for Chelsea

New Chelsea signing Filip Jorgensen has been discussing his goalkeeper rival Robert Sanchez.

Filip Jorgensen arrived at Chelsea this summer to provide Robert Sanchez with competition.

As of now, it is the latter who is the Blues’ first-choice goalkeeper, with Enzo Maresca confirming that he will play Sanchez in the Premier League for the time being.

It was the 26-year-old who started in Chelsea’s 2-0 defeat against Manchester City last Sunday, while Jorgensen played in the Conference League during the week.

What has Filip Jorgensen said about Robert Sanchez?

Chelsea’s current first-choice goalkeeper has already been scrutinised this season, with Gary Neville describing Sanchez as “nervy” following his display versus City.

Jorgensen, though, thinks that the Spaniard is actually doing a “great job” at the minute.

Speaking to Chelsea’s official website about himself and his teammate, the 22-year-old said: “At the end of the day, when I will play I will give my best and be my best. Hopefully one day I’ll be able to play every game, but Robert is here and he is doing a great job.

“I want to play and so does he, and so we are both here fighting for a place in the starting XI.”

Who should be Chelsea’s first-choice goalkeeper?

If you are going off their performances against City and Servette, then it has to be Jorgensen.

While Sanchez did not have the best game against City, Jorgensen really impressed in Chelsea’s 2-0 win versus Servette.

On Sofascore, he was actually the highest-rated player on the night, recording a match rating of 8.4. The Denmark U21 international made six saves and 34 successful passes out of the 36 he attempted, giving him a success rate of 94%.

Chelsea fans were impressed with Jorgensen, and it is not hard to see why. For now, though, it looks like Maresca is going to stick with Sanchez.

The former Brighton & Hove Albion man has to start performing and stop giving the ball away when Chelsea are trying to play out from the back. If he fails to do those things, then he could quickly lose his place to Jorgensen.

But again, after Jorgensen’s performance in the first leg of Chelsea’s Conference League play-off tie, he arguably deserves to be the team’s first-choice goalkeeper right now.
