'I am excited': Paul Merson names the Chelsea player who he thinks is going to love playing with Joao Felix
Joao Felix could make his second debut for Chelsea later, and it could be good news for one of the team’s other attackers, according to Paul Merson.
Chelsea completed the signing of Joao Felix earlier this week, with the forward joining from Atletico Madrid for a second time in his career.
Felix spent six months on loan at Chelsea back in the 2022/23 season, but the Blues have now signed him permanently.
Enzo Maresca has plenty of attacking options, but Merson would definitely like to see Felix start.

Paul Merson backs Cole Palmer to thrive next to Joao Felix at Chelsea
Cole Palmer was easily Chelsea’s best player last season, recently winning the PFA Young Player of the Year award for his efforts.
Merson has been speaking about the 22-year-old, believing that he will love playing alongside Felix.
Discussing Felix’s return in a column for Sky Sports, the former Arsenal player said: “I am excited. He’s a good player, he’s intelligent. But it was only two years ago he was leaving and wanting to go to Barcelona.
“It didn’t work out at Barcelona and Atletico Madrid have got rid of him. If he can hit the ground running, then he’s a top player, but he’s got to work.
“He’s got to be playing around good footballers. People like Cole Palmer will love playing with him — they’ll bounce off each other. But the Premier League is ruthless. It’ll be interesting to see how he copes.”
Cole Palmer and Joao Felix could both start against Wolves
Maresca will have an opportunity to unleash both Palmer and Felix later when Chelsea take on Wolves at Molineux.
The Blues are looking for their first points of the season after losing their Premier League opener 2-0 against Manchester City last Sunday.
Palmer and Felix are both quite versatile attackers, so Maresca can do many things with them. For example, the Italian could start Palmer on the right and Felix up front or Palmer in the No.10 role and Felix on the left.
Felix’s flexibility is one thing Maresca really likes, so you can expect the former Leicester City manager to really utilise it this term.
All in all, Chelsea have some very talented attackers in their squad, including another new signing, Pedro Neto. It is now up to Maresca to get them functioning together and scoring goals, starting today at Molineux.
If he can, then there is a great chance of Chelsea finishing in the top four and bringing Champions League football back to the Bridge.
