'I think': Frank Leboeuf delivers verdict on whether Pedro Neto is a good signing for Chelsea

Chelsea are conducting so much transfer business this summer that supporters may struggle to keep track.

Blues head coach Enzo Maresca has had to integrate several new players into the squad during pre-season, something he’s doing while getting used to the environment himself as well.

However, the reports in the media suggest that the recruitment push isn’t quite over yet.

BBC Sport reported on Friday that Chelsea have agreed a deal worth nearly £54m to sign Wolverhampton Wanderers attacker Pedro Neto, who’s now due for a medical. Apparently, it takes the Blues’ spending in this summer window to over £200m.

Journalist Ben Jacobs reported via X that Chelsea offered Trevoh Chalobah and David Datro Fofana for Neto, but Wolves rejected it and insisted on a straight cash deal.

Frank Leboeuf is a fan of Pedro Neto

Former Chelsea defender Frank Leboeuf believes that Neto is a quality player and a decent addition at Stamford Bridge.

Leboeuf told ESPN: “I think Neto is a good signing, even if he is going to be injured, as he has been for Wolves many times. When he plays, he is a very good player, but £60m is a lot.”

Who will start on the wing for Chelsea next season?

The imminent arrival of Neto at Chelsea only ramps up the competition even further in the forward positions.

The Wolves left-footer has the advantage that he can play on the left or right wing, but how quickly can he settle after five years at Molineux Stadium?

In terms of Chelsea’s attacking options, Neto could be directly up against teammates such as Noni Madueke, Raheem Sterling and Mykhailo Mudryk for a starting position on either flank. It’s actually Madueke that has impressed the most so far this summer with three goals in pre-season.

From what we’ve seen of Neto in the Premier League, he’ll be a really useful creative option in the final third. Of course, the one cloud around him is his poor injury record.
