Jason Cundy delivers his verdict as Chelsea confirm the signing of Pedro Neto from Wolves

Chelsea confirmed on Sunday another new signing, and this one may be the biggest of the transfer window.

The Blues announced on Sunday afternoon that Pedro Neto has completed a move to Chelsea from Wolverhampton Wanderers, penning a seven-year deal at Stamford Bridge.

Neto was introduced to Chelsea fans this weekend during half-time of the club’s pre-season friendly against Inter Milan, which ended up finishing 1-1.

Chelsea supporters think Neto is perfect for their system, so it’ll be interesting to see what he can do in Enzo Maresca’s side.

The 24-year-old wide player, who’s comfortable on either wing, has proven his quality in the Premier League during five seasons as a Wolves star. Admittedly, his injury record is perhaps one cause for concern with him.

Jason Cundy reacts to Pedro Neto signing

Jason Cundy could barely contain his excitement following the confirmation that Neto is now a Chelsea player.

When discussing Neto’s signing on Chelsea’s official app (3:52pm, 11 August), Cundy said: “I have been a huge fan for a number of years. He is the real deal.

“Make no mistake, this kid is destined for big things, in my opinion. I’ve loved him from the minute I saw him.

“He is aggressive with the ball. He will take players in directions they don’t want to go… I’m excited about him.”

Chelsea have signed a creative star

Chelsea shouldn’t have any issue in the upcoming season creating chances when they’ve got the likes of Neto, Cole Palmer and Christopher Nkunku in their ranks.

In terms of Neto, he created 11 assists in just 24 games across all competitions last season for Wolves.

The Portuguese attacker is extremely quick, skilful and direct when he’s running at his full-backs. For Chelsea, they’ve signed someone they know can already do it in the Premier League as well.

The competition for the forward positions has certainly been ramped up another level following Neto’s addition to the squad., which should only be a good thing.
