'Brilliant' Chelsea player is in first-team training again after missing Monday's session

Preparation for Saturday’s game against West Ham United seems to be going well for Chelsea.

Chelsea were without quite a few players for their trip to Bournemouth last weekend, with the likes of Enzo Fernandez, Malo Gusto and Romeo Lavia all missing.

Fernandez was sick, which is why he was absent, but the midfielder, Gusto and Lavia all did some form of training on Tuesday.

New signing Jadon Sancho featured in the 1-0 win at Bournemouth, but Sancho spent Monday inside at Cobham, working on his fitness levels.

Will Jadon Sancho play against West Ham United?

Sancho made a massive impact when he came on at the Vitality Stadium last Saturday.

The winger caused Bournemouth’s defenders so many problems and set up Christopher Nkunku’s match-winning goal.

Chelsea fans would have been worried when they heard that he was not training with the first-team squad on Monday.

However, his absence was not because of injury and the 24-year-old was with Enzo Maresca‘s group again on Tuesday, which was confirmed by Chelsea’s official website.

With Sancho not carrying an injury, then, you would expect him to get some minutes against West Ham this weekend when Chelsea travel to the London Stadium.

Jadon Sancho could be the perfect weapon against West Ham

Under David Moyes, West Ham often used a low block in games against teams such as Chelsea.

Things may be a bit different under Julen Lopetegui, but if the Spaniard uses a similar tactic on Saturday, Sancho could come in handy.

Maresca believes Sancho is effective against low blocks, so it would not be a surprise if he gave him his first Chelsea start at the London Stadium. He probably deserves it following his cameo in the 1-0 victory over Bournemouth.

“I thought he was brilliant,” former Premier League striker Darren Bent said when discussing Sancho earlier this week. Who could drop out in order for Sancho to come in? Well the England international replaced Pedro Neto at half-time at the Vitality Stadium, so he seems like the most likely candidate.
