‘From what I understand’: How the Chelsea players actually feel after the summer transfer window – journalist

Predictably, there has been a lot of chop and change at Chelsea as they looked again to tweak the squad in the recent summer transfer window.

The Blues were working all the way until the final moments of deadline day, as they predominantly looked to trim down the well-documented bloated squad they had.

Enzo Maresca has not been afraid to be ruthless since joining the club. Ben Chilwell has reportedly been told he has no way back after being exiled from the first team.

Chelsea squad uncertain after summer transfer window

This process has seen a number of players such as Raheem Sterling moved on, whether it be on a permanent or temporary basis.

Journalist Graeme Bailey has exclusively told The Chelsea Chronicle that there is a feeling of uncertainty surrounding the squad at the moment after a busy transfer window.

He said: “The storyline being pushed is one of unity, and that they’re pretty happy with what they did, in terms of moving people on, but the main issue is they’ve still left themselves with a lot of excess baggage, for want of a better phrase. Internally though, they think it was a decent window.”

“The squad from what I understand are as happy as they can be. It’s nothing to do with friends going as that happens in football, but I think they’re a bit unsure, as it’s a new system and new manager, but they recognise the talent within the group, but it’s still early in that process with Maresca.”

Noni Madueke forcing his way into Enzo Maresca’s plans

The Italian has been keen to start a similar starting side in all of his Premier League games so far, however some players have worked their way in.

Noni Madueke has put in the best performance in Europe statistically so far this season, and has earned his place as a starter at Chelsea.

There is a feeling though that no players at Stamford Bridge are safe for the right offer now, even with the prolonged contracts a lot of the club have.

Nicolas Jackson has been the benefactor of a recent extension to his deal, with Chelsea believing he is already worth way more than what they paid for him two years ago.
