‘Insane’… Chelsea fans are all saying the same thing about Jhon Duran after his performance vs Leicester
Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran was a target for Chelsea during the summer transfer window, but the Blues failed to sign him in the end.
In fact, it has been claimed that Chelsea actually tried to sign Duran on deadline day, though Napoli’s Victor Osimhen was clearly the No.9 they wanted.
Enzo Maresca has ended up with neither, though, and will now have to rely on Nicolas Jackson and Marc Guiu.
Joao Felix and Christopher Nkunku are also options for the new Chelsea manager, but they are not natural strikers.

Chelsea fans discuss Jhon Duran after Leicester City display
Duran helped Villa to a 2-1 win against Leicester City on Saturday after coming off the bench to score.
The 20-year-old also netted in Villa’s first game of the season, the decisive goal in a victory over West Ham United.
A lot of Chelsea fans on social media are now questioning why the club did not sign Duran during the summer transfer window.
One Chelsea supporter on X said: “Would love to know why we pulled out of the race to sign Duran & ended up focussing on Omorodion for a major part of this window.”
Another wrote: “We should’ve got Jhon Duran man. Now his price is gonna be insane.”
And finally, one Chelsea fan posted: “We should have got one of Osimhen, Toney or Duran. This could seriously cost us. Hopefully Jackson steps up this season.”
If Duran keeps on scoring, it would not be a surprise if Chelsea made a move for him in January. Chelsea still view Duran as perfect for their club.
Should Chelsea try to sign Jhon Duran in January?
Jackson is Chelsea’s first-choice striker right now. If he can score goals for the Blues during the first part of the season while the likes of Guiu and Felix adequately back him up, then there may be no need for Duran or another centre-forward.
However, if the above does not happen and Duran continues netting for Villa, then the club probably should consider making a fresh move for the Colombian.
Whatever the case, Duran seems a more likely option than Osimhen. Chelsea walked away from signing Osimhen on deadline day and unless the Nigerian becomes open to fitting in with their wage structure, that avenue is unlikely to be revisited.
