Report: 17-year-old Chelsea youngster will get chances to play in the Conference League this season

Chelsea made a few big calls when it came to selecting their side who will represent them in the group stages of the Conference League.

Clearly with an eye to the length of the season they could be undertaking, the Blues decided not to make Cole Palmer, Wesley Fofana and Romeo Lavia available for selection for the first stage of the competition.

They are able to make as many as three changes when the knockout stages come around, with it looking pretty obvious who they will call up should the situation come up.

The opportunity is there for those who have not yet been able to make an impact on Enzo Maresca’s side to impact proceedings, and show to the manager that they deserve the chance to feature on a more regular basis.

These chances seem to extend to the younger contingent of their squad too, with many hoping they can fulfil a promising future at Stamford Bridge.

Kiano Dyer to get Chelsea chances in the Conference League

According to The Athletic, Kiano Dyer is one of the players who has the chance to feature in European games this season.

The 17-year-old has been tipped for great things at the club already, after impressing as part of the academy sides recently.

Dyer was also spotted in first team training with Maresca over the summer, suggesting the Italian was keen to get a proper look at the talent he has at his disposal.

Chelsea make right call with Conference League squad

The decision to leave three players who started the first Premier League game of the season may seem strange on paper, however Chelsea fans will likely be delighted with the call.

Injuries have plagued the Blues over the last few years, and already this season they are threatening to do the same.

Lavia is hoping to be fit for the next Premier League game against Bournemouth, with him not starting since impressing on opening day against Manchester City.
