'There is no space': Enzo Maresca admits he didn't want 'unbelievable' player to leave Chelsea
Chelsea had to make a number of big decisions over the summer transfer window due to the sheer squad size of players at Stamford Bridge.
Enzo Maresca waved goodbye to 25 players in the summer transfer window, including Ian Maatsen, Conor Gallagher, Lewis Hall, Romelu Lukaku, and Raheem Sterling, who either left on loan or permanent.
And that wasn’t enough, as Enzo Maresca admitted that Ben Chilwell wanted to leave the club this summer, but he ended up staying.
Initially, Ben Chilwell was frozen out of Chelsea’s squad. But, he has now since returned and could be used by Enzo Maresca.
The Blues already have Marc Cucurella playing very well at left-back, so it won’t be easy for him to force his way back into the side, but European and cup games could provide an opening.
Interestingly, there was a high-profile player who left in the summer, and Enzo Maresca made an interesting admission about them…

Enzo Maresca admits he wanted Raheem Sterling
Raheem Sterling, who has been hailed as ‘unbelievable’, joined Arsenal on a season-long loan in the summer transfer window.
The Englishman was out of favor under Enzo Maresca and due to the sheer size of Chelsea’s squad, it made it impossible for him to include the attacker.
Interestingly, Todd Boehly wasn’t too happy with the treatment of Sterling.
Enzo Maresca has spoken out about his feelings on Raheem Sterling and explained his exit whilst speaking on a TNT Sports feature before Chelsea vs West Ham United.
“I want Raheem Sterling, but I want all the 30 players we have, there is no space for him.”
How has Raheem Sterling been at Arsenal?
Raheem Sterling didn’t impress Chelsea fans with his performance against Tottenham Hotspur for Arsenal last weekend, as many of them found it funny that he’s still ruining attacks.
He’s only featured twice for Arsenal since making the move, with Mikel Arteta taking his time to get him up to speed.
The Englishman has looked sharp in training but he’s not quite been able to transfer that onto the pitch.
After the signings of Jadon Sancho, Joao Felix and Pedro Neto, it was always going to be difficult for Sterling to stay, so the best he can do is try and impress Maresca whilst away on loan.
