'Thrilling display': Alan Shearer claims 'excellent' Chelsea player showed his all-round game against West Ham

Alan Shearer was really impressed with a couple of Chelsea players following their side’s win against West Ham United over the weekend.

Chelsea beat West Ham 3-0, with Nicolas Jackson managing to grab a brace. It took his tally in the Premier League this term to four.

Cole Palmer got the Blues’ other goal, which was his second of the season. The 22-year-old has also registered four assists, so it has been a great start to the campaign for him.

It is Jackson, though, whom Shearer has been praising following his two-goal display at the London Stadium.

Alan Shearer impressed with Nicolas Jackson’s display against West Ham

Robert Sanchez made Shearer’s Team of the Week after Chelsea’s 1-0 win against Bournemouth, but Jackson and Moises Caicedo were the Chelsea representatives this time around.

Shearer named the Blues duo in his latest Premier League Team of the Week, including Jackson for his two goals and all-round game.

“A thrilling display from Chelsea’s centre-forward,” the Newcastle United legend said. “He scored with two excellent finishes and displayed his all-round ability with a nice assist.”

Despite Jackson’s form, Chelsea are thought to be interested in Ollie Watkins. The Aston Villa striker has not made a bad start to the season either, scoring three goals in five league games.

Nicolas Jackson’s all-round game has always been good

Those who watch Jackson regularly have been impressed with the 23-year-old’s overall centre-forward play since he arrived at Chelsea from Villarreal last summer.

Jackson is quick, can dribble and is able to play with his back to goal or run in behind because of his pace.

Rather, what Jackson has been criticised for is missing chances. For example, John Obi Mikel thinks Jackson’s finishing can significantly improve.

However, it was not an issue during Chelsea’s win against West Ham. If he keeps finishing like that, then the Senegal international is not going to have too many critics left because again, his all-round game is pretty impressive.

Still only 23 years of age, the Senegal international could become quite the centre-forward one day.
