'Class act': Peter Crouch picks Chelsea legend in five-a-side team of his best ever opponents
Peter Crouch has just picked a five-a-side team made up of the best opponents he played against in his football career, which includes one Chelsea legend.
There’s been so many Chelsea legends throughout the club’s long history, particularly when you reflect on the success in the 21s century.
Hopefully, there’s some future icons in the current Blues squad. If we were to predict one player that could go down in the club’s folklore, Cole Palmer is definitely that individual.
The 22-year-old attacker has been sensational at Stamford Bridge since he joined from Manchester City last summer. Also, Palmer has become the first Chelsea player since Ashley Cole to win an individual England award.

Peter Crouch recognises Petr Cech
Peter Crouch has just picked a five-a-side team consisting of his best ever opponents. Interestingly, he put Chelsea’s legendary goalkeeper Petr Cech in net.
“He was a class act. Chelsea at that time, defensively, were ridiculous… Petr Cech, he was so good in those days,” Crouch told SPORTbible.

The brilliance of Petr Cech
We doubt that Chelsea will ever be fortunate enough to own a goalkeeper on the same level as Cech.
The retired gloveman, who spent 11 years of his career with the Blues, is one of the greatest shot-stoppers to ever play the sport.
Cech’s record of 228 appearances in 494 Chelsea appearances is staggering. During that time, the Czech Republic star won 15 major trophies as well.
Here is a look at Cech’s phenomenal club career by numbers:
| Years | Club | Appearances | Clean sheets |
| 1999-2001 | Chmel Blsany | 31 | 9 |
| 2001-2002 | Sparta Prague | 41 | 24 |
| 2002-2004 | Rennes | 78 | 27 |
| 2004-2015 | Chelsea | 494 | 228 |
| 2015-2019 | Arsenal | 139 | 54 |
The current goalkeeper situation at Chelsea
Robert Sanchez has regained his starting position as Chelsea’s first-choice goalkeeper this season, but there’s definitely still question marks over his head.
He’s produced a few phenomenal performances in the early months of this campaign, including in the weekend’s 1-1 draw at home to Nottingham Forest by making a couple of remarkable saves late on in the Premier League clash.
However, the Spanish keeper has also been guilty of lapses in concentration in other matches and poor errors that have led to goals.
Filip Jorgensen is the understudy in net and playing in the various cup competitions, so it’ll be interesting to see if he can apply some pressure to force his way into the XI.
