'Composed with the ball': Manager claims £28m player has just put in his best display since leaving Chelsea
One former Chelsea player has just come in for a lot of praise from his manager following his display over the weekend.
Chelsea sold a lot of names in the summer, including the likes of Lewis Hall, Ian Maatsen, Conor Gallagher and Romelu Lukaku.
The Blues also allowed Raheem Sterling and a few more players to join other Premier League clubs on loan.
Hall was on loan at Newcastle United last season before the Magpies signed him permanently in the summer. Hall had some difficulties at Newcastle at first, the player himself has admitted.

Eddie Howe impressed with Lewis Hall
Newcastle’s obligation to buy Hall saw them pay an initial £28m fee for his signature.
Still just 20 and having time to improve, that could end up being a really good deal for the Magpies. He started at left-back for them in their 1-1 draw with Manchester City on Saturday, and his manager Eddie Howe thought it was his best performance since his arrival at the club.
“Lewis was excellent last season behind the scenes, his attitude to his work was very good,” Howe was quoted as saying by The Northern Echo. “No doubt he’ll have had frustrating days and disappointing weeks but he’s reaping the benefits now. His game is in a really good place.
“I would argue that was his best performance for us [against Man City] since he arrived at the club. He looked composed with the ball, made some very good decisions and defended really well against world class players. He navigated some situations really well.”
Right now, Marc Cucurella is Chelsea’s first-choice left-back. Arsenal legend Martin Keown thinks Cucurella is so important for Enzo Maresca.
Lewis Hall would have been perfect for Enzo Maresca
With how Maresca likes to use his full-backs, Hall really would have been a great asset to have.
The England U21 international can also play in midfield, so he would have had no problems inverting into the middle.
It is a job that Cucurella is having no trouble doing, though, with the Spaniard starting all six of Chelsea’s Premier League games so far.
Renato Veiga, who can play in midfield just like Hall, is also there to cover Cucurella. Veiga is the most hard-working player at Chelsea, according to his teammate Joao Felix.
Maresca, then, can be satisfied with having Cucurella and Veiga, while Ben Chilwell also remains an option for the time being.
