Enzo Maresca admits Chelsea 'need more' players like £60m star
Chelsea turn their attention towards facing Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United tomorrow in the Premier League, with Enzo Maresca telling some home truths ahead of the game.
Enzo Maresca has enjoyed an extremely successful start to life at Chelsea, and already appears to have implemented his way of playing.
Even Eddie Howe mentioned how impressed he is about how quickly Maresca has got his Chelsea side playing the way he wants them to play this season.
A 4-1 win over Panathinaikos in the Europa Conference League gave the fringe players a chance to impress, with Joao Felix and Mykhailo Mudryk two of the standouts.
Chelsea fans named Mudryk as the man of the match for his performance with over half the vote, though Maresca did admit that he’s learning slower than others.
Speaking out ahead of the Newcastle clash, Maresca admitted he wants to find more players like Marc Cucurella after doubting Reece James’ leadership.

Marc Cucurella shocked everyone with his impressive performances for the Spanish national side in the Euros this summer, and he’s carried that form in with him to the Premier League.
However, Cucurella has been quick to dismiss any major praise as he claims he’s not one of the best players at Chelsea at the moment.
Maresca certainly seems to think he is, as he spoke very highly of him in a passing comment.
Speaking on Friday, the Chelsea boss was brutally honest about James and praised Colwill.
“He’s (James) a reserved guy. But when you don’t have a proper leader, you need to build that. I think we don’t have a proper leader. We need to build them. Reece is one who is on the way but he’s not there. He needs to make an effort.
“The one that is doing fantastic is Levi (Colwill). At the beginning he was not a leader but now you can see he’s one of the guys that’s always speaking. Marc Cucurella is one of the guys, but we need more and more.”

Joao Felix has already named Cucurella as the funniest player at the club after joining in the summer transfer window.
Meanwhile, Martin Keown has noticed his qualities on the pitch, labelling him as a ‘vital’ part of how Chelsea play under Enzo Maresca.
It’s his personality too, which is clear to see in any interview he gives, lighting up the room with his smile and always joking around.
