'I love': Kalvin Phillips shares what he really admires about Chelsea star Cole Palmer
Kalvin Phillips has shared what he absolutely loves about Chelsea star and former teammate Cole Palmer.
It’s been a meteoric rise for Cole Palmer in football, especially since he left Manchester City and moved to Stamford Bridge in the summer of 2023.
There’s been so many special footballers in Chelsea’s history. However, in terms of immediate impacts, there’s not many that have hit the ground running quite as impressively as Palmer. In 54 total appearances for the Blues, he’s scored 31 goals and created 20 assists.
The 22-year-old attacker continues to go from strength to strength for both club and country. Palmer has just become the first Chelsea player since Ashley Cole to win England’s Player of the Year.

Kalvin Phillips loves Cole Palmer’s attitude
Kalvin Phillips, who once shared a dressing room with Palmer at Manchester City, is a huge fan of the Chelsea talisman. In particular, the on-loan Ipswich Town midfielder loves his relaxed approach.
When discussing Palmer on Sky Sports Premier League, Phillips said: “I trained with him a lot at [Manchester] City. Just seeing him get the chance at Chelsea and take it by the scruff of the neck. I love Cole as well because he is just so laidback, so chilled and he’s very funny as well.”
Cole Palmer thrives in the No 10
There were plenty of people that expected a drop off from Palmer after his remarkable debut season in London, but his second year in Chelsea colours is off to an equally stunning start.
Palmer has six goals and five assists from the opening seven Premier League matches this campaign. As a result, his side sit fourth in the division table and there’s a feel-good factor around the club.
In fairness, Blues head coach Enzo Maresca deserves credit for moving Palmer more centrally and consistently starting him as the No 10 behind a striker.
We saw interim England boss Lee Carsley deploy Palmer a bit deeper in midfield during this week’s 2-1 Nations League defeat to Greece, but his club form shows you he’s so dangerous in-between the lines and closer to the opponents box.
