'I'm really happy': £62m Chelsea player claims he wants to stay at club for a very long time

As the season goes on, Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca will not be able to keep all of his players happy.

Enzo Maresca has a very big squad, meaning some players are missing out on minutes in the Premier League.

For now, though, his Chelsea team look happy, with the Blues performing well. That includes Marc Cucurella, who has been the first-choice left-back this season.

Maresca recently admitted that Chelsea need more players like Cucurella, believing that his squad is lacking leaders presently.

Marc Cucurella happy at Chelsea

Cucurella is enjoying life at Chelsea at the moment, and he is one player whom Maresca should be able to keep happy as the campaign progresses.

Again, he is the No.1 left-back at the club, making seven starts in the Premier League so far this season.

Discussing his desire to remain at Chelsea for a long time in an interview that has been shared by the Daily Mail, the 26-year-old said: “I’m really happy. My family is happy here. We are in a top club with good fans. Hopefully I can stay for a lot of time.”

When Cucurella is not on the pitch, he can be a bit mischievous at times. Cucurella likes to put pressure on the fourth official from the bench, the Spaniard recently revealed.

Marc Cucurella a tenacious defender

Playing as an inverted full-back under Maresca, a lot of focus is on what Cucurella does in possession as he comes into midfield.

However, when Chelsea do not have the ball, the Spain international is also quite useful. Last season, he made three tackles per game, which was the highest average in his squad (via WhoScored).

As per FBref, he is also in the 95th percentile for blocks among full-backs over the last year. All of this shows that Cucurella is quite a determined defender.

All in all, the former Brighton & Hove Albion man has become an important player for both club and country since his £62m move to Stamford Bridge. Cucurella was praised by the Spanish media for one of his performances during the last international break.
