TalkSPORT pundit picks who he thinks is the better player - Marc Guehi or Levi Colwill
Chelsea’s Levi Colwill has just had an interesting camp with England’s senior squad during the October international break, where him and Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi split minutes in defence.
England were beaten 2-1 by Greece, followed by a 3-1 victory against Finland, in a couple of Nations League matches within the last week. The Chelsea trio of Levi Colwill, Cole Palmer and Noni Madueke all got minutes across the games, too.
For Colwill, he partnered John Stones at centre-back in the Greece defeat at Wembley Stadium. Chelsea fans still praised Colwill’s display versus Greece despite the surprise result.
Afterwards, Guehi came into the starting XI alongside Stones against Finland. Incidentally, this was the defensive combination that played so well together in the summer at Euro 2024.

Danny Murphy picks between Marc Guehi or Levi Colwill
TalkSPORT pundit Danny Murphy has admitted that he currently prefers Guehi over Colwill as a player.
Murphy told talkSPORT: “I did think that Marc Guehi missing in the Greek game, you felt his loss. When he came back in against Finland, although we conceded some chances and looked a bit vulnerable at times, he seemed to always be there or thereabouts to get us out of trouble. I don’t think Colwill is as good as Guehi.”
Colwill, 21, is certainly on the rise because he’s impressing for Chelsea as a starting centre-back this season. However, it feels he’s currently third of fourth in the pecking order of England centre-halves.
We’re hopeful that the left-footed defender gets more opportunities in the national side because he’s got the ball-playing qualities to be a success.
Chelsea links with Marc Guehi
Guehi, who previously came through the academy system at Chelsea, is now linked with a potential return to Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea are keeping tabs on Guehi as a transfer target in 2025, so will we soon see him back with the Blues?
It feels inevitable to us that he’ll eventually leave Crystal Palace because he’s a top-class talent, especially if he cements his position in the England XI. But for Chelsea, they should see how the partnership of Colwill and Wesley Fofana progresses before splashing the cash on yet another defender.
