'Unbelievable': Paul Gascoigne shares what he's just noticed about Chelsea's Cole Palmer

England legend Paul Gascoigne has been speaking about Chelsea star Cole Palmer.

Cole Palmer has found himself in the headlines once again this season after some excellent performances for Chelsea.

The attacking midfielder has already come up with 11 goal contributions in the Premier League this term.

He was not too effective for England during this international break, with the English media handing Palmer a six out of 10 for his display against Finland over the weekend. But for Chelsea, he has been magnificent.

What has Paul Gascoigne said about Cole Palmer?

Palmer was Chelsea’s standout player last season and arguably the best footballer in the Premier League.

In the 33 matches that the 22-year-old played for the Blues, he managed to score 22 goals and provide 11 assists.

However, it is only now that Gascoigne has realised how good Palmer actually is. Speaking to Football365, the former Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United star said: “Yeah. God, I didn’t realise how good he was!

“It’s only the last couple of games I’ve watched him on Match of the Day, he’s been unbelievable. He’s hungry, he scored four [against Brighton], he wants to do well and he’s with a good team, he’s sharp.”

Palmer has also received praise from Marc Cucurella, with his teammate describing him as “special”.

Pep Guardiola must have Cole Palmer regrets

Manchester City are obviously coping without Palmer, winning a fourth consecutive Premier League title last season.

Nevertheless, Pep Guardiola must still have some regrets about allowing the England international to leave.

City signed Savinho during the summer. Palmer could be playing on the right instead of the Brazilian had the Citizens decided to keep him and would have saved his former club some money.

City’s loss is obviously Chelsea’s gain, though, and Enzo Maresca will be so glad that he has a player of Palmer’s quality in his squad.

Without him, who knows where the Blues would have finished in the table last season and where they would be now?

And having extended his contract until 2033, Palmer will not be leaving Stamford Bridge any time soon, which is great news for Chelsea and its supporters. In Palmer, Chelsea have one of the most dangerous attacking players in the Premier League.
