Alan Shearer names two Chelsea players in his Premier League Team of the Season so far

Chelsea have performed well this season, with the Blues currently sitting third in the Premier League table.

From the 11 games that Chelsea have played so far, they have managed to take 19 points.

The likes of Cole Palmer, Moises Caicedo and Nicolas Jackson have all helped the team to get into the Champions League places, contributing a lot during this early part of the campaign.

Statistically, Caicedo has no significant weaknesses. The midfielder has been a key player for Enzo Maresca this season.

Alan Shearer picks Cole Palmer and Moises Caicedo

Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer has used this international break as an opportunity to name his Premier League Team of the Season so far.

Unsurprisingly, the former striker chose both Palmer and Caicedo, who have been excellent this term.

Palmer has scored seven goals and provided five assists, while Caicedo has been a tackling machine.

The 23-year-old has made 38 tackles in the Premier League, more than any other midfielder. Before Chelsea’s 1-1 draw with Arsenal, Leandro Trossard described Caicedo as a “top player”.

What has Alan Shearer said about Cole Palmer?

Again, it is no surprise to see Palmer included in Shearer’s Team of the Season. The 22-year-old has been phenomenal for Chelsea and Shearer is a big fan. “I love him as a player,” Shearer said about Palmer earlier this month.

The Englishman went off the boil a bit just before the international break, failing to score a goal or provide an assist in Chelsea’s games against Arsenal and Manchester United.

But overall, Maresca will be more than pleased with him, and the same obviously goes for Caicedo.

The next challenge for Palmer and Caicedo is a trip to the King Power Stadium to take on Leicester City. Win that, and Chelsea could move to just a point behind Manchester City before they play Tottenham Hotspur.

It shows just how much the Blues have progressed since Maresca’s arrival at Stamford Bridge during the summer.
