Enzo Maresca shares exactly what he thinks of Noni Madueke's strop after Chelsea vs Arsenal
Noni Madueke was substituted after 68 minutes during Chelsea vs Arsenal, and his reaction to Enzo Maresca’s decision caused a bit of a stir after the game.
Enzo Maresca will be relatively pleased with what he saw from his side against Arsenal, and may even feel slightly aggrieved that they couldn’t find a winner.
Chelsea now find themselves third in the table on goal difference after picking up a point, with the free-scoring start to the season benefitting the Blues.
The summer signing of Pedro Neto is starting to look like shrewd business, as he put in his best performance in a blue shirt against the Gunners, scoring a wonderfully taken goal.
However, there was an incident involving Noni Madueke that didn’t go down too well with Chelsea fans, and Enzo Maresca has shared his thoughts on it.

Noni Madueke far from happy after being substituted vs Arsenal
Noni Madueke has been a regular starter for the Blues in the current campaign, appearing 10 times in the Premier League and scoring an impressive four goals.
However, one of the things that has been called into question at times in the past has been his attitude, especially at previous clubs.
To be fair to him, he’s improved massively at Chelsea and those at the club say that Madueke is heading in the right direction at Stamford Bridge.
He didn’t take too kindly to Enzo Maresca substituting him in the 68th minute against Arsenal though, as he headed straight down the tunnel in a bit of a strop.
Maresca spoke out on the incident after the game and said this (as per ESPN).
“The problem is when you change a player, they are never happy. Probably the only way to be happy is after a hat trick, but it’s not only about Noni, it’s about the players as they want to be there through to the end.
“At that moment [in the match] we saw a different way. We thought Pedro [Neto] with [Jurrien] Timber could be more aggressive — so it was a tactical decision.”
Noni Madueke’s season to date at Chelsea
Noni Madueke has been one of the surprise packages for Chelsea this season after a disappointing campaign last time round, with Enzo Maresca finding a way to get the best out of him.
Interestingly, Madueke has had more touches in the oppositions box than Cole Palmer this season, which shows how involved he’s been in the final third.
To be fair to the winger, he didn’t have an awful game at all, he actually looked bright at times. But, he tailed off and a tactical switch was made by Maresca, so he has to respect that.
The positive to take away from the situation is that Madueke clearly enjoys playing for Chelsea and knows what he can offer the team on the pitch.
