Many Chelsea fans want their ‘incredible’ player to get a rare Premier League start vs Leicester

Chelsea begin an extremely busy run of fixtures with a trip to Leicester City on Saturday afternoon.

The Blues still have to play 11 games across all competitions before the New Year, starting with an away fixture in the Premier League tomorrow at Leicester.

Chelsea go into this weekend sitting third in the league table after 11 gameweeks. It’s now the time for Enzo Maresca’s side to put their foot down and build on a decent start.

Multiple sources claim Maresca has a long-term Chelsea future after an impressive opening few months in charge, but will there still be a feel-good mood after the upcoming run of games?

Chelsea fans desperate for Mykhailo Mudryk to start vs Leicester

A selection of Chelsea supporters on social media are desperate for Mykhailo Mudryk, 23, to be named in tomorrow’s starting line-up against Leicester.

The Blues winger has played 14 games across all competitions this season, including seven in the Premier League. However, Maresca has only picked him to start once in the league, which was back in August against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Here are many Chelsea fans on X demanding that Mudryk gets a rare league start versus the Foxes:

@MilaVIbezCFC wrote: “Mudryk is in form so I would be happy if he gets to start.”

@CFCFofana posted: “Mudryk definitely has to start vs Leicester on Saturday. Time for him to shine.”

@BenBaraka13 claimed: “Mudryk should start against Leicester.”

@CFC_Wind said: “We’ve not been fair to Mudryk. He deserves to start against Leicester.”

@MilaVIbezCFC shared: “I would definitely take an in-form Mudryk over [Jadon] Sancho for tomorrow’s game.”

Maresca is encouraged by Mudryk’s progress at Chelsea so far this season, but will it be enough to earn him a start at the King Power Stadium.

While the Ukrainian left-winger has been impressing for the Blues in cup competitions, he’s been deployed as a substitute in the last three consecutive top-flight matches.

Chelsea only have two starting positions on the wing. So, which duo will start out of Mudryk, Pedro Neto, Noni Madueke or Jadon Sancho?

Mykhailo Mudryk deserves Chelsea chance in the league

It must be extremely frustrating for Mudryk to be struggling for minutes in the league. However, the £89m Chelsea attacker has stayed professional and is usually catching the eye in a positive way when he’s on the pitch this season.

Here is a look at how the speedster performed for the Blues before the international break:

Fixture Competition Minutes played Goals Assists Match rating
Chelsea 1-1 Arsenal Premier League 22 0 0 6.4
Chelsea 8-0 Noah Conference League 90 1 0 8.6
Manchester United 1-1 Chelsea Premier League 19 0 0 5.6
Newcastle United 2-0 Chelsea Carabao Cup 90 0 0 7.4
Chelsea 2-1 Newcastle United Premier League 23 0 0 6.6
Panathinaikos 1-4 Chelsea Conference League 90 1 2 9.0

It feels like Mudryk is ready to explode into some form if he’s given more opportunities on the pitch.

Shakhtar Donetsk’s Georgiy Sudakov massively rates “incredible” Chelsea star Mudryk and thinks he could win the Ballon d’Or in the future. It’s fair to say most people would see that as a stretch, but the fanbase are behind him and want to see more.
