'I think': Stan Collymore predicts the score for Leicester vs Chelsea in the Premier League

Chelsea are back in action this afternoon against Leicester City as domestic football returns after the international break.

The Blues have travelled to the East Midlands ahead of Saturday’s Premier League fixture, which is an interesting showdown with Enzo Maresca’s former club.

Maresca led Leicester to the Championship title and promotion last season, but he’ll now be in the opposition dugout at the King Power Stadium as the Chelsea manager.

Leicester were unhappy Maresca left them in the summer to join a bigger club. However, the Italian head coach has settled so quickly at Stamford Bridge and looks a natural at the top level.

Stan Collymore predicts Leicester vs Chelsea

Stan Collymore has predicted Chelsea to pick up three points on the road at Leicester this weekend.

“The Foxes have conceded three against Manchester United and Nottingham Forest recently, and with those injuries, it doesn’t bode particularly well,” Collymore told talkSPORT (2:53pm, 22 November).

“Chelsea have lost one of their last seven in the East Midlands. Straightforward for me. I think Leicester will score, but Chelsea will win comfortably. Leicester 1-3 Chelsea.”

Similarly, Chris Sutton agrees Chelsea will win away at Leicester, suggesting it’s the easiest Premier League fixture of the weekend to predict.

It’ll be interesting to see Maresca’s team selection for the first match back after the international break. Chelsea’s predicted XI versus Leicester does include a couple of changes from the last time they played.

Chelsea catching Leicester at a good time

Steve Cooper’s Leicester side have made a decent start on their return to the top division, especially as many people are tipping them to be immediately relegated.

So far, the Foxes sit 15th in the league table and have a three-point cushion over the relegation zone.

Unfortunately for Leicester, they’re without several key players going into the weekend’s match with Chelsea. Ricardo Pereira and Abdul Fatawu are both sidelined with long-term injuries, while in-form creative attacker Facundo Buonanotte is suspended.

It feels like Chelsea couldn’t be travelling to Leicester at a better time than now.
