'Powerful' Chelsea player expected to return from injury before next Premier League game

Enzo Maresca was forced to get a bit creative when it came to his team selection for Chelsea’s most recent Premier League outing against Leicester City.

A number of Blues had pulled out of international duty at various points of the break after picking up minor injury problems.

Maresca had confirmed that Reece James was set for another spell on the sidelines after picking up a problem in training, and Malo Gusto was unavailable for the weekend too.

Levi Colwill played through illness, further showing why he can be an extremely reliable player at the back right now.

Another player who was absent though was Pedro Neto, which came at an unfortunate time after the excellent time he was having for both club and country.

Pedro Neto expected to return for Chelsea before Aston Villa game

His performance against Arsenal really impressed pundits. Troy Deeney described Neto as ‘powerful’, despite actually being limited by the Chelsea system.

His absence saw Joao Felix come into the starting side, and he impressed with a hard-working display in both attack and defence.

Chelsea fans will be hoping Neto is not out too long though, and there has now been some good news regarding when he can be expected to return.

The Evening Standard have predicted he will be back available in November, meaning he will return before their next Premier League game against Aston Villa.

Pedro Neto vs all Chelsea wingers 24/25

Since breaking into the starting side under Maresca, Neto has arguably been the best performing wideman, and the stats back that up.

Chelsea wingers 24/25 Goals Assists Chances Created
Pedro Neto 3 3 21
Noni Madueke 4 0 12
Mykhailo Mudryk 4 2 16
Jadon Sancho 0 3 8

Maresca has kept the faith with Madueke on the right wing for the majority of this season, however it may soon be time for Neto to start there in the Premier League.

Micah Richards has already called for Neto to swap wings, and this could be the perfect opportunity for the likes of Mykhailo Mudryk and Jadon Sancho to break into the side on their preferred side.

It is likely even if he is fit that Neto is rested for the trip to Germany in the Conference League on Thursday, as he pushes to be in contention when they take on Villa on Sunday.
