Tammy Abraham shares the hilarious way Jose Mourinho got him to leave Chelsea

AC Milan striker Tammy Abraham has been speaking about his move from Chelsea to AS Roma in 2021.

After losing his spot in the Chelsea team and falling down the pecking order, Tammy Abraham joined Roma.

There, he linked up with former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho, and the 27-year-old has now revealed what the Portuguese said to convince him to swap London for Rome.

Abraham has also backed Chelsea to finish in the top four this season. Enzo Maresca‘s men currently find themselves sitting in third in the Premier League table.

Jose Mourinho’s pitch to Tammy Abraham

While Abraham was not getting much game time at Chelsea, he was clearly a talented forward.

The season before he left Stamford Bridge, the England international managed to score 15 goals in the Premier League.

Mourinho wanting to bring Abraham to the Stadio Olimpico was thus not a shock and to tempt the No.9, he reminded him of how better the weather is over in Italy!

Speaking about his move to Roma on BBC’s Away Goals show, Abraham said: “I was on the PlayStation with my friends. I received a call, I picked up and I said hello.

“And he said, ‘Hello Tammy it’s Jose. Do you want to stay in rainy England or come to sunny Rome?’. And I remember just running upstairs and telling my parents and we thought Rome was the place to go.”

Chelsea considered re-signing Tammy Abraham in the summer

Chelsea wanted to bring in a striker over the summer, targeting the likes of Victor Osimhen and Samu Omorodion.

However, they were not the only forwards the Blues considered. Back in June, it was claimed that Chelsea also thought about re-signing Abraham.

In the end, nothing happened and the club did not bring in anyone. However, they are coping with Nicolas Jackson being the only recognised striker in their squad for the time being.

The 23-year-old scored once again over the weekend, helping Chelsea to beat Leicester City 2-1 at the King Power Stadium.

It was his seventh goal in the Premier League this season, meaning that no one in Chelsea’s squad has scored more times in the top flight. As for Abraham, he has netted twice in seven matches for Milan in Serie A.
