Report: Chelsea always thought Moises Caicedo was better than £105m Premier League star

Chelsea fans will feel like it is about time that one of their star players got the credit he is now getting for his performances of late.

All the talk after the Blues’ 1-1 draw with Manchester United was around Moises Caicedo, who fired home a sensational equaliser late on.

Chelsea legend Thiago Silva was very impressed with Caicedo that day, although supporters will notice that he has been performing at a very high level for a considerable amount of time now.

The high price tag that the Blues paid for the midfielder is perhaps why he was being judged harshly in the media, and comparisons are always going to be made to players who have cost a similar amount.

Chelsea always thought Moises Caicedo was better than Declan Rice

He is performing much better than club teammate Enzo Fernandez, and this season has been at a better level this season than Declan Rice.

The England international was another key target for the Blues during the transfer window in 2023, however he ended up moving to Arsenal for a fee of £105m.

According to The Telegraph, Chelsea always had belief that Caicedo was always the better all-round player between the two of them, even though the England international would show more leadership qualities between the duo.

The two will do battle this weekend at Stamford Bridge, providing Rice has overcome an injury that kept him out of Champions League action during the week.

Enzo Maresca has tough calls to make for Chelsea vs Arsenal

Enzo Maresca will have some tough calls to make regarding his team selection after their dominant 8-0 win in the Conference League last night.

Mykhailo Mudryk has made his case to start against Arsenal, and is another player similar to Caicedo who has heavily linked with a move to the Emirates.

The Blues will be sweating over the fitness of Cole Palmer, with him still yet to train this week after a rough challenge from Lisandro Martinez.
