Report: Chelsea believe ‘unlucky’ player suits Enzo Maresca perfectly, he’s yet to play in the Premier League

The Chelsea manager has remained loyal to a number of his first team players for Premier League games this season.

A number of individuals have started every game they’ve been available for, making themselves undroppable under Enzo Maresca.

Moises Caicedo has been the star of the season so far, and has even captained the Blues on a number of occasions.

Another position that has seen no changes in the league this season is goalkeeper. Robert Sanchez has been an ever-present between the sticks so far.

This has left summer signing Filip Jorgensen on the bench for the league games, earning his minutes instead in the cup competitions.

Chelsea believe Filip Jorgensen suits Enzo Maresca

Jorgensen has no doubt impressed on a number of occasions this season, and is waiting patiently for his opportunity to convert it into league minutes.

While he is yet to appear in that competition, it is believed that he can still play a role under the current manager.

According to BBC Sport, sources at the club believe he is perfect for Maresca’s style of play, something they are still very much waiting to see from Sanchez.

Maresca backing Robert Sanchez

Maresca’s support of Sanchez has been unwavering up to now, and it is always a positive for a player if he keeps the backing of the man tasked with making the decisions.

However, Chelsea fans are beginning to lose confidence in the Spaniard, and he did his prospects of improving no favours with another rough showing for his country during the international break.

Chelsea have also invested into their long-term future between the sticks with the addition of Mike Penders, who is currently remaining in Belgium.

Penders has already been compared to Thiabut Courtois, and Chelsea fans will be over the moon if he manages to live up to near the quality that the former Blue has shown throughout his career.
