Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca returns to Leicester City this weekend for the first time since leaving the Foxes in the summer.
Enzo Maresca, 44, spent a brief but successful year as the Leicester manager. The Italian coach guided them to promotion from the Championship in the 2023/24 season as title winners.
Following his success at the King Power Stadium, Maresca departed the East Midlands to take the position as the Chelsea manager.
So far, the Blues boss has been a big success at Stamford Bridge. His side go into Saturday’s trip to Leicester sitting third in the Premier League table, but they’re desperate for three points because there’s a cluster of clubs right on their tail.
What Harry Winks said about Enzo Maresca last season
The majority of the Leicester group worked under Maresca’s management last season, including key Foxes midfielder Harry Winks.
Winks made some bold comments about his former boss earlier in 2024 that now look very interesting.
When discussing Maresca back in February this year, Winks told talkSPORT: “He’s a manager who I think will certainly go to the very top. His understanding of football is something I’ve never witnessed before.”
Based off his impressive start at Chelsea, Maresca definitely looks like he’s on a steep upward trajectory to the top. Hopefully, he can get there with the Blues!

If there were concerns that the job was too big and coming too early in his career, he’s quickly squashed that theory.

It’s been extremely chaotic for the Blues fanbase with the drama on and off the pitch in recent years, but the first few months of the Maresca reign have been calming.
Maresca’s style of play is already clear to see with the patterns on the pitch when you watch Chelsea. Plus, they’ve made a pretty decent start results-wise with during a challenging fixture run.
