Chelsea predicted XI to face Manchester City: Enzo Maresca comes up with new solution for midfield injury woes

Enzo Maresca is going to be without some key names as his Chelsea side prepare for one of their biggest games of the season.

The Blues travel to the Etihad to take on Manchester City, with their place in the top four at stake as they look to hold off the defending champions.

Romeo Lavia will be missing from the squad, while there is a race against time for Enzo Fernandez to be fit in time for the big game.

Maresca may need to come up with a unique system that solves his midfield woes, and The Chelsea Chronicle have predicted the XI he will pick on Saturday.

Robert Sanchez was at fault for Wolves’ goal on Monday, however Maresca’s defending of the Spaniard suggests he will continue between the sticks.

The boss will bring Malo Gusto into the starting side to play a more traditional full-back role like he was last season.

Trevoh Chalobah will look to build on his remarkable return to the club against Wolves with another start at the Etihad.

He will this time be partnered by Levi Colwill, who was absent last time out due to a small injury.

The left-back role will be taken by Reece James, with the captain having some strong showings here earlier in the season.

Marc Cucurella to start in midfield in Chelsea vs Man City

The move is mostly because Marc Cucurella will start in midfield, a position he has been inverting in to a lot this season.

He will be partnered by Moises Caicedo, who will have a lot of impotence on him with the absence of Fernandez and Lavia.

Ahead of those two will be Cole Palmer, who will no doubt be looking to show his former side just how big a mistake they made letting him leave.

On the right, Noni Madueke will be handed a start over Pedro Neto after his goal on Monday.

The opposite wing will see Jadon Sancho return to the side, another player who has spent time in the past at City.

Up front, Nicolas Jackson will be desperate to return to goalscoring form. He has one goal in his last eight appearances for Chelsea.
