Ian Wright explains why Enzo Maresca is at fault for Chelsea’s poor form, he ‘found it strange’…
It is strange when looking at the current situation that Chelsea find themselves in that mere weeks ago many were talking about them being in a Premier League title race.
Enzo Maresca continued to emphasise that the Blues were not yet able to win the title, despite them sitting as high as second in the Premier League.
Since then though, the Blues have gone under a rough run of form, winning just one of their last seven league games.

Ian Wright blames Enzo Maresca for Chelsea’s poor form
The defeat to Manchester City last time out was a real indicator of how their levels have dropped, with them outclassed by their top four rivals.
Fingers have been pointed to a number of different reasons as to why Chelsea have now fallen outside of the top four, however Ian Wright believes the blame lies with their manager.
He told ‘Wrighty’s House’ that he found Maresca’s decision to publicly state his side were not good enough to win the title was ‘strange’, and was a way of letting the players off too easy.
He said: “He didn’t need to say that. He could have just said it in the dressing room. George Graham wouldn’t say anything that made you think, Arsene Wenger as well was very positive.
“When I heard it, I thought it’s almost like giving the players a get out of jail free card if you start playing badly. I found it strange – it didn’t need to be said. At some stage there was going to be some form of drop-off without him saying that and giving them an excuse.
“He should have just said it’s brilliant and we’re ahead of schedule and we will see where we are. That’s what you do.”

Enzo Maresca faces criticism after Chelsea defeat to Manchester City
A number of figures began to put the blame at Maresca’s door for the loss to City, especially given the fact that they took the lead so early on.
Frank Leboeuf thought it was crazy for Maresca to employ a high line against the Champions, with Erling Haaland one of the benefactors of this tactic.
It felt as if the Italian was out of his depth up against Pep Guardiola, however the fact that this is the first time that feeling has emerged this season suggests there is no cause for concern.
