Jadon Sancho has now matched key Man Utd record at Chelsea and he's done it in 68 fewer games
It was another disappointing result for Chelsea in yesterday’s draw against Crystal Palace, but Jadon Sancho did come out of it in a positive light.
Chelsea were held to a 1-1 draw away to Palace on Saturday afternoon in the Premier League, with Jean-Philippe Mateta’s tap-in cancelling out Cole Palmer’s opening goal. The Blues are now on a four-game streak in the league without a win as they continue to be sucked into a top-four battle.
Jadon Sancho delivered an impressive performance after his recall to the starting line-up. The 24-year-old left-winger dropped to the bench for the recent defeat to Ipswich Town before responding in a great way this weekend.
Sancho produced a brilliant Chelsea assist to create Palmer’s goal versus Palace, dribbling the ball from deep and providing a clever pass into the goalscorer’s path.

Jadon Sancho matches Manchester United record at Chelsea
There were a few eyebrows raised when Chelsea signed Sancho from Manchester United in the summer on loan with an obligation to buy. It’s fair to say that he’s actually been a shrewd addition to the Blues squad.
Sancho never hit anywhere near his top levels during his time at Old Trafford. In fact, he actually tied his own Man Utd record when he registered his latest assist for Chelsea against Palace.
- Jadon Sancho at Chelsea – 6 assists in 15 games
- Jadon Sancho at Man Utd – 6 assists in 83 games
The fact that Sancho has matched his assist tally in 68 fewer games at Chelsea tells its own story.
| Fixture | Goalscorer | Assisted by |
| Bournemouth 0-1 Chelsea | Christopher Nkunku | Jadon Sancho |
| West Ham 0-3 Chelsea | Nicolas Jackson | Jadon Sancho |
| Chelsea 4-2 Brighton | Cole Palmer | Jadon Sancho |
| Heidenheim 0-2 Chelsea | Christopher Nkunku | Jadon Sancho |
| Heidenheim 0-2 Chelsea | Mykhailo Mudryk | Jadon Sancho |
| Crystal Palace 1-1 Chelsea | Cole Palmer | Jadon Sancho |
Chelsea believe the Sancho transfer is a bargain because they’ll end up paying around £23m to sign him permanently at the end of the season.
It’s a decent return of two goals and six assists in 15 appearances so far this campaign. If we were being critical, the Englishman does need to be a little bit more ruthless when he’s around the box and needs to shoot more.
Jadon Sancho’s best individual season to date
Sancho is proving to be much more effective in London than Manchester. He’s still got a long way to go to match what he previously achieved in German football when he was a youngster, though.
The skilful left-winger produced some dizzy heights for several years in the Bundesliga, which is why Man Utd coughed up so much to sign him from Borussia Dortmund in 2021. At the age of 24, there should still be hope that he can get back to his very best.
Here is a look at Sancho’s best individual club season so far in terms of most combined goal contributions:
| Season | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
| 2019/20 | 44 | 20 | 20 |
Craig Burley thinks Sancho is recapturing his form at Chelsea, but he’s shown in the past he’s capable of ridiculously high levels.
