Three Chelsea youngsters Enzo Maresca should have played against Morcambe – including ‘ridiculously good’ teenager
Chelsea’s FA Cup campaign got off to a flyer as they ran out comfortable 5-0 winners against Morecambe.
Enzo Maresca’s side were dominant throughout despite the Spaniard making a number of changes.
The Chelsea boss handed starts to the likes of Marc Guiu and Renato Viega, with Tyrique George also impressing against the League Two outfit.
Having won so comfortably though many have been left questioning why Maresca didn’t hand minutes to those who have barely featured this season – with three players in particular springing to mind.

Deivid Washington
Maresca claimed he wanted to keep Guiu this January and he would start the young Spaniard up top against Morecambe.
Having featured prominently in the Europa Conference League this season, some may have thought Maresca could have handed an opportunity to another young forward – namely Deivid Washington.
The Brazilian is yet to feature for the Blues so far this season, featuring mostly in the Premier League 2 and EFL trophy.
Washington has trained with Chelsea’s first-team at points this campaign so he may have thought that League Two opposition may have been the perfect opportunity to kick start his season – Maresca however seemingly thought otherwise.
Harrison Murray-Campbell
In terms of defence, Maresca opted to play a pairing of Tosin Adarabioyo and Axel Disasi – with Adarabioyo surprising fans with two FA Cup goals.
Goalscoring centre-backs aside however, the Morecambe game could have potentially been the ideal opportunity for Harrison Murray-Campbell to make his mark at Stamford Bridge.
Murray-Campbell recently made his Chelsea debut as a second-half substitute in the Europa Conference League and the 18-year-old may have been hoping for some more sub minutes against Morecambe.
Kiano Dyer
Maresca started with a very attacking midfield at Stamford Bridge but he may have been wise to hand some crucial minutes to Kiano Dyer.
Dyer has trained with the Chelsea first-team on numerous occasions, but he is yet to be handed a real opportunity under Maresca.
The majority of the youngster’s minutes have come for the U21s, with Chelsea fans labelling Dyer as ‘ridiculously good’ following his performance against Anderlecht’s U21s in October.
With rival clubs eyeing a move for Dyer – the Chelsea boss may have missed a trick by not giving the 18-year-old any limelight versus Morecambe.
