Eden Hazard said Chelsea teammate was ‘the best in the world’ in his position, he gave Blues ‘95 per cent chance’ to win every game
Eden Hazard shared the dressing room with some special players during his time at Chelsea, and he once said one teammate gave them a “95 per cent chance” of winning any football match.
Eden Hazard has certainly taken his place at the table alongside the other Chelsea legends throughout history because of his glittering seven-year spell at Stamford Bridge between 2012-2019.
The 34-year-old Belgian great, who retired in 2023, regularly set the bar in attack during his time with the Blues.
David Luiz has compared Chelsea’s Cole Palmer to Hazard because of what he’s doing in the current side, but he’s still got a way to go to reach the winger’s brilliance.

Eden Hazard claimed his Chelsea teammate was the world’s best in his position
Back in 2018, Hazard described Chelsea teammate N’Golo Kante as the “best in the world” in his midfield role.
“I play all year with Kante. He is the best in the world in his position. When he is at his best, you have a 95 per cent chance to win the game,” Hazard said via The Daily Mail in July 2018.
It’s interesting to note that both Hazard and Kante were included in the 2018 FIFA FIFPRO World XI.
When a player of Hazard’s calibre speaks so glowingly about someone, it’s a clear indicator they’re special. In Kante, the Blues owned a generational midfield talent whose legacy in the sport speaks for itself.
Kante was a remarkable central midfielder during a Blues career that lasted from 2016-2023. That’s before you mention his World Cup trophy with France, plus his Premier League title with Leicester City. Incidentally, the 33-year-old’s now play playing in Saudi Arabia with Al-Ittihad.
Chelsea’s Moises Caicedo recently mentioned Kante as an inspiration, which makes sense when you watch his style of play. It’s impossible for anyone to replicate the sheer industry and brilliance of Kante in his peak, though.

Chelsea’s record with Eden Hazard and N’Golo Kante together
Without a doubt, Hazard and Kante are both cemented in Chelsea’s history as club icons. It was a treat to watch them play in the same team for three years as they overlapped at the Blues between 2016-2019.
Here is a look at Chelsea’s record when Hazard and Kante played together for them:
| Matches | Wins | Draws | Losses | Joint goal participation |
| 127 | 78 | 22 | 27 | 3 |
The current Chelsea side would be elevated to brand new heights with either of the aforementioned duo in the team. Instead, head coach Enzo Maresca is attempting to gel and grow the young group.
In terms of Kante, it’s impossible to replicate what he did out of possession on the pitch. Frank Lampard once highlighted the incredible intensity of Chelsea great Kante after coaching him.
