Alexander Isak remains firmly at the top of the list when it comes to numerous elite clubs in their hunt for a number nine.
Eddie Howe’s side are adamant that it is going to cost an extortionate amount of money to sign the Sweden international. Newcastle will not lower Isak’s price even if they miss out on Champions League football this season.
Chelsea previously wanted Isak’s price to drop before considering making a move to sign him, however their recent situation up front could see them need to take more drastic measures.
Nicolas Jackson is now injured, however was on a run of eight games without finding the net before this, and Chelsea have suffered as a result of this.

The target of Champions League football for next season has been denied by Enzo Maresca, however supporters will not take as sympathetic a view if they miss out on the top four or top five this season.
It may also impact their transfer plans, especially with players who are as good as Isak.
Graeme Bailey has told The Chelsea Chronicle that Chelsea will put themselves in the conversation to sign the Sweden international, however their chances will significantly increase if they achieve Champions League qualification.
He said: “Chelsea like him. He’s certainly on their radar. If the opportunity came up, if you don’t win a ticket you can’t buy the raffle, and I think with Isak Chelsea would have a conversation.
“They know the situation, obviously it would be very dependent on where they are in the league. Arsenal really like him, he’ll cost a lot of money obviously.
“Liverpool and Chelsea are more looking in at the situation, but if he does move there are only a handful of clubs who could afford him anyway, and Chelsea are one of them.”
Isak’s tremendous record against Chelsea
Of all the people who would be pleased to see Isak make the move to Stamford Bridge, Chelsea’s defenders would be at the top of that list.
The Newcastle man has enjoyed a prolific record against most opponents, however few he has had more success against than the Blues.
