Jadon Sancho blasted for controversial Marcus Rashford comment amid poor Chelsea form, 'don't get involved'

Jadon Sancho made sure he took another parting shot to Manchester United as he prepares to make his move to Chelsea permanent.

The Blues took a chance on the England winger on deadline day of the summer transfer window as he looked set for another season of limited chances at Old Trafford.

Enzo Maresca has been impressed by Sancho, however Chelsea fans will point to a lack of goals and assists in recent weeks as a negative.

The current loanee made himself even more unpopular with United fans this week when he reacted to Marcus Rashford’s debut for Aston Villa with the comment: “Freedom”.

Jadon Sancho blasted for comment on Marcus Rashford’s Instagram

United supporters reacted with anger to this, and some in the media have been left wondering if the action was necessary from the Chelsea man.

Simon Jordan said on TalkSPORT that he does not think the two players’ situations at Old Trafford correlate, and he has not done enough since making the move to West London to comment.

He said: “I think what Jadon Sancho has to say is not particularly relevant to Marcus Rashford’s situation. I don’t think he’s covered himself in particular glory.

“He’s had a few decent games for Chelsea, but other than that a few decent games for Dortmund. His career has gone backwards. He’s responsible for it, not anyone else, and this is a sort of atypical response from people that always like to align other people with the blame for their current failings.

“I would suggest that someone like Jadon Sancho, who it appears only like it when they’re told all the good things, they can’t really deal with any home truths or they can’t have any consequences for their actions, because if they do they don’t like it.”

Jeff Stelling was also speaking to TalkSPORT, and said he believes footballers occasionally lose perspective on their situations when commenting on former clubs.

He said: “It sounds like they’ve been locked up in Guantanamo bay doesn’t it, where in actual fact they’ve been paid a small fortune for playing for one of the biggest football clubs in the world.

“I think sometimes footballers lose a bit of perspective, they’re not quite in touch with reality.

“Why does he want to involve himself? Play your football at Chelsea, perform as well as you possibly can, and I think he’s probably been a bit indifferent. Just focus on your football and don’t get involved.”

Chelsea’s Jadon Sancho problem

Goals have begun to dry up of late for the Blues, shown by Nicolas Jackson’s dry run in front of goal.

Sancho has just two Premier League goals to his name, and it seems as if he is not attempting enough efforts on goal to make a change to that.

Sancho’s xG is below two this season. In comparison, Cole Palmer’s sits at more than 12.

With Chelsea interested in signing a new winger in the summer, those currently at the club are going to need to step up in the second half of the season to secure their place in the squad going forwards.

This is no doubt the case for Sancho too, despite the fact he will only just be making his move permanent at the end of the season.
