Joe Cole sends passionate message to Chelsea owners after embarrassing defeat to Brighton, ‘said it from the start’…
Chelsea’s nightmare run of form continued on Friday night when they were beaten by Brighton for the second time in six days.
The 3-0 defeat was a damaging one for Enzo Maresca, whose search to solve the Blues’ goalscoring woes continued with little success.
The youngest side in the Premier League this season had an even younger look than normal last time out. The subs bench consisted of four teenagers as they continued to manage an injury crisis.

Joe Cole pleas with Chelsea owners to sign experienced players
Chelsea had the chance to strengthen their squad in the recently-closed January transfer window. However, their only permanent signing ended up being Mathis Amougou.
The midfielder was on the bench at the weekend, however is already expected to be out on loan next season.
Joe Cole was clearly frustrated with what he was seeing, as the plan laid out by the owners continues to be pushed on with.
Speaking to TNT Sports, the former Chelsea star pleaded for Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali to take a step back from purely signing younger players who have a high ceiling, and adding experience to their ranks.
He said: “You can get all the data you want of a 21 year old that will predict he will be this at 24, but there’s a process between 21-24 where he’ll have to learn in every single game.
“I know from my experience, playing with experienced players around me as a young man was invaluable, and it’s moments like the Brighton game where you need those experienced guys around you.
“I’ve said it from the very start of this ownership you have to have experienced players.
“You can have all the managers you want on the touchline, Shankly, mourinho, Sir Alex Ferguson, sometimes the lessons are learnt on the pitch with your team mates teaching you and nurturing you through a situation.
“So this whole idea of these young players getting there, well they might be, but I tell you what they’d be there a hell or a lot quicker and Chelsea would be getting more points and be higher in the table if they would just put some experience around them.”
Experienced players linked with a move to Chelsea
With the Blues clearly needing reinforcements at both ends of the pitch, they have been linked with a mix of experienced and promising players in a number of positions.

Borussia Dortmund goalkeeper Gregor Kobel has seen it all in his career so far, and has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge as the club look to properly address the goalkeeper role.
Up front, despite reports that they could try and sign someone like Liam Delap, Victor Osimhen remains a target and has been in superb goalscoring form since making a loan switch to Galatasaray.
With supporters beginning to lose faith in those running their project, time is ticking for the owners to get things right before the fans turn completely.
