Report: Chelsea are confident that two current players can fill Renato Veiga void this season
While Chelsea were not too busy in signing new players last month, they have a number of first team stars they need to replace after losing them in the January transfer market.
The Blues lost a number of players who have played key roles this season, most wanting more regular starting minutes after predominantly featuring in the Conference League.
One of those players was Renato Veiga, a player who Chelsea had a lot of hopes for after getting an early look at his versatility.

Chelsea believe Reece James and Malo Gusto can play left-back in Renato Veiga’s absence
The Portugal international filled a number of holes for the Blues in his six months here, featuring anywhere in defence as well as in central midfield.
He was signed to play left-back though, and his exit to go and feature at the heart of defence at Juventus means there are no natural first team options behind Marc Cucurella.
It seems as if the club acknowledged this was going to happen, and made sure they had options who could play in those roles.
According to The Athletic, Chelsea have faith in both Reece James and Malo Gusto to fill that void when necessary, despite being natural right-backs.

The England international is slowly building up his fitness after yet another injury setback, however has featured in a number of games in a row now as he prays the worst may be behind him.
Why starting Reece James at left-back could be a masterplan
Starting James at left-back could be a genius move for Enzo Maresca if needed. He has starred on the opposite side in the win over Newcastle United earlier this season.
Given his damning injury record and desire to keep him fit for a prolonged period of time, not too much has been asked of the England international in attack so far this season.
Despite this being one of his real strengths, he is also very affective at forming a back three, which would allow a more attacking option to start on the right.
This would allow either Gusto or Josh Acheampong to hold width and help out on the opposite side, something the Frenchman has not really had a chance to do under Maresca due to the desire for a full-back to invert this season.
