Report: Chelsea made last-minute attempt to hijack Premier League rivals’ deadline day signing
Deadline day proved busy for Chelsea both on the pitch and off it, as they made last minute changes to their squad as well as took on London rivals West Ham.
Enzo Maresca led his side to a 2-1 win over West Ham at Stamford Bridge, with the manager’s substitutions being key to them turning round a half-time deficit.
While all this was going on, moves were being finalised to see Joao Felix and Axel Disasi leave on loan for AC Milan and Aston Villa respectively.

Chelsea tried to hijack Mathys Tel to Tottenham deal on deadline day
Chelsea did get a deal done in time to sign young midfielder Mathis Amougou, however some were left underwhelmed with the business the Blues got done throughout the month of January.
They were linked to a number of top players throughout the transfer window, with one of the prominent links being Bayern Munich’s Mathys Tel.
Chelsea’s interest in the Frenchman seemed to rely on the future of Christopher Nkunku, who agreed terms with Bayern Munich.
A deal never came to fruition though, and Tel eventually made what seemed an unlikely move to Tottenham on deadline day.
It seems as if Chelsea didn’t give up late on though. According to L’Equipe, the Blues made a very late move to try and hijack their London rivals’ deal.
This proved unsuccessful, and Maresca will be forced to stick with what he has already got for the rest of the season at least.

Chelsea’s summer transfer plans
It is believed that the Blues will be back in for a new attacker when the transfer window opens again in the summer.
Chelsea are believed to be the favourites to sign Delap at the end of this season. A deal was not possible in January due to Ipswich’s desire to remain in the Premier League.
A number of other names will certainly be on the shortlist though, and a big-name signing such as Victor Osimhen could become a possibility again.
