Cesare Casadei makes claim about both Enzo Maresca and Mauricio Pochettino after Chelsea sale
Chelsea sold Cesare Casadei in the final days of the winter transfer window as he joined Torino on a permanent basis.
Cesare Casadei, 22, is no longer a Chelsea player after sealing a return to Serie A late in the window.
The Italian box-to-box midfielder joined Torino in a £12.5m deal (BBC), signing a four-and-a-half-year contract with them. There’s a sell-on clause in the youngster’s transfer deal, too.
Leicester City enquired about signing Casadei from January last month, but he’s sealed a return to his homeland.

Cesare Casadei comments on Enzo Maresca and Mauricio Pochettino after Chelsea exit
Casadei played under a couple of different Chelsea managers during his time in West London, including Enzo Maresca this season. He also spent last year being coached by former Blues head coach Mauricio Pochettino as well.
The new Torino signing has commented on both coaches after sealing his move away from Stamford Bridge.
When discussing Chelsea boss Maresca, Casadei told La Gazzetta dello Sport: “I learned a lot from him. He taught me a different way of seeing football.”
He then added on Pochettino: “He puts great passion into everything he does, he left me this lesson: you need to add great passion to everything.”

Enzo Maresca couldn’t keep his promise to Cesare Casadei
Earlier in the season, Chelsea boss Maresca said Casadei would play more frequently.
However, the Italian youngster has left permanently after making only six appearances across all competitions this season for the Blues. It turns out he couldn’t keep his promise to play him more as he slipped behind the likes of Moises Caicedo, Enzo Fernandez, Romeo Lavia and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall in the midfield pecking order.
| Competition | Appearances |
| Conference League | 5 |
| Carabao Cup | 1 |
| Premier League | 0 |
| FA Cup | 0 |
Apparently, Maresca didn’t want Chelsea to sell Casadei in the January transfer window, but the player will now look to play more regular first-team football in Torino colours.
The Blues did complete the signing of 19-year-old midfielder Mathis Amougou from Saint-Etienne on deadline day, so we’d argue he can fill the Casadei role in the squad during the second half of the campaign.
