Report: Former Chelsea star beat Premier League-winning manager last month, Man City now want him to potentially replace Pep Guardiola
One ex-Chelsea player could be in contention to replace Pep Guardiola as Manchester City manager if he leaves the Etihad.
Guardiola still has two years to run on his contract at City, but it looks like Chelsea‘s Premier League rivals are preparing for life after him.
One of the 54-year-old’s former assistants Enzo Maresca is, of course, now managing Chelsea.
John Obi Mikel discussed Guardiola and Maresca last month, urging the latter to copy the former’s flexibility.

Cesc Fabregas could be Pep Guardiola’s successor at Man City
Ex-Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas is currently managing Serie A side Como and is doing a good job there.
Fabregas helped Chelsea to sign Pedro in 2015 and won two Premier League titles during his time at Stamford Bridge. However, it looks like he could get the chance to earn success at one of their rivals in the near future.
According to Il Messaggero, City have an eye on Fabregas as they consider potential replacements for Guardiola.
It would be a surprise if the former Bayern Munich and Barcelona manager left the Etihad at the end of the season.
With City having such a disappointing campaign, he will surely want to bounce back with the Citizens next term.
If not, though, then it appears that the current Premier League champions could ask Fabregas to succeed his old boss.
Fabregas was interested in signing Alfie Gilchrist from Chelsea on loan last summer, but the defender joined Sheffield United instead.

Cesc Fabregas led Como to victory over Antonio Conte’s Napoli in February
Fabregas has already proven that he can go toe-to-toe with one top manager. His Como side were able to beat Antonio Conte, who won the 2017 Premier League title alongside Fabregas at Chelsea, and Napoli last month.
Como defeated Napoli 2-1, with Romelu Lukaku restricted to just eight touches during his time on the pitch.
It is still early in Fabregas’ managerial career. Replacing Guardiola at City is a big ask, but the decision makers at the club seem to like what they are seeing from the 2010 World Cup winner so far. It is something to keep an eye on going into the summer.
