Report: Whether Joao Felix is likely to return to Chelsea as Blues' opinion of AC Milan teammate Rafael Leao emerges

Joao Felix joined AC Milan from Chelsea at the end of the January transfer window and his loan there started well.

Felix scored on his debut for Milan, bagging a goal in their 3-1 win against AS Roma in the quarter-finals of the Coppa Italia.

However, the forward has not netted since then, while he has not registered an assist either. Felix is now being criticised by the Italian media, with his loan spell starting to turn sour.

In recent weeks, Chelsea have been linked with one of Felix’s current teammates, Rafael Leao.

Joao Felix ‘likely’ to return to Chelsea

Last month, it was claimed that Chelsea could sell Felix to Milan when the transfer window reopens.

After his recent performances, though, it looks like the Italian club’s interest in signing the 25-year-old permanently has cooled.

According to Calciomercato, Felix will “most likely” return to Chelsea at the end of the season. While Milan may no longer want the Portuguese, it could be a different story for one of their rivals.

It has been reported that Inter Milan could make a move for Felix following interest in the previous transfer window.

There could be space for Felix in Enzo Maresca‘s squad next season. If Christopher Nkunku leaves Chelsea, then there will be no one to cover Cole Palmer in the No.10 position.

Of course, Felix wants to be more than a cover option, hence why he left Stamford Bridge in the first place. Under Maresca, he made just three starts in the Premier League before joining Milan on loan.

Chelsea think Rafael Leao is one of the best footballers in the world

While Milan seem to have doubts about Felix, Chelsea appear to be fully convinced by his teammate Leao.

Calciomercato’s report claims that Chelsea believe Leao is one of the best players in the game right now.

The Blues may need to sign a new left winger in the summer, with Mykhailo Mudryk still suspended. Pedro Neto can play as one, but the 24-year-old has been thriving up front recently and is better suited to the right, where he can cut in from with his left foot.

Neto is enjoying playing up front in the absence of Nicolas Jackson, stating that he does not have to do as much tracking back.

Next season, then, perhaps Chelsea fans could get to see an attack of Leao, Palmer, Jackson and Neto. Felix would probably love to be part of a forward line like that, but he does not appear to have a long-term future in west London.
