Enzo Fernandez sets new Chelsea target as his future becomes clear

Fabrizio Romano has revealed how Enzo Fernandez is feeling at Chelsea following his winning goal against Tottenham Hotspur.

Chelsea returned to action following the international break against London rivals Tottenham on Thursday and picked up a massive three points in the race for a Champions League place.

With Manchester City, Newcastle United, Aston Villa and even Brighton all gunning for fourth place, Enzo Maresca’s side need to do all they can to hold on to their spot in the Premier League table.

It was Enzo Fernandez’s second-half header that made the difference, leaving even England manager Thomas Tuchel with a smile on his face as he watched the game at Stamford Bridge.

Despite a massive improvement in his performances, Fernandez has been linked with a move away in the coming transfer window, with Argentine Atletico Madrid players reportedly trying to convince him to join.

However, Fabrizio Romano states there’s no chance either the club or the player will allow any move to happen.

Enzo Fernandez has his whole focus on Chelsea

Fernandez is also earning interest from Real Madrid, according to reports, but any transfer away from London is looking extremely unlikely this summer.

Posting on X, formerly Twitter, after Fernandez’s winning goal against Tottenham, journalist Romano said: “More on Enzo Fernandez.

“Chelsea always considered him as important part of their plans, summer exit was never a possibility.

“Planning for midfield future includes Enzo and he’s also fully focused on reaching Champions League football with Chelsea.”

Chelsea fixtures compared to Man City, Newcastle and Aston Villa

Fernandez has his sights set on ensuring Chelsea return to the Champions League but that will be no easy accomplishment.

In a season in which the champion and three relegated sides have long been decided, the battle for a spot in Europe’s top competition is the only remaining point of interest.

Chelsea have been leading the way in fourth for most of the campaign, but a drop-off in form has allowed several teams to close the gap.

Here’s how each contender’s remaining fixtures look:

Chelsea Manchester City Newcastle United Aston Villa Brighton
Brentford (A) Manchester United (A) Leicester (A) Nottingham Forest (H) Crystal Palace (A)
Ipswich Town (H) Crystal Palace (H) Manchester United (H) Southampton (A) Leicester (H)
Fulham (A) Everton (A) Crystal Palace (H) Newcastle (A) Brentford (A)
Everton (H) Aston Villa (H) Aston Villa (A) Manchester City (A) West Ham (H)
Liverpool (H) Wolves (H) Ipswich Town (H) Fulham (H) Newcastle (A)
Newcastle (A) Southampton (A) Brighton (A) Bournemouth (A) Wolves (A)
Manchester United (H) Bournemouth (H) Chelsea (H) Tottenham (H) Liverpool (H)
Nottingham Forest (A) Fulham (A) Arsenal (A) Manchester United (A) Tottenham (A)
Everton (H)

Of the five teams, Brighton probably have the easiest set of fixtures, even if they are trailing behind the others at present.

Newcastle will also be confident of beating anyone they face and still have a game in hand, vs Crystal Palace, that could take them above Chelsea if won.

Chelsea’s remaining games are quite tough, but they do have the chance to take points off Newcastle, in what will be a massive fixture.

Luckily, the Premier League will likely get a fifth Champions League spot, reducing the jeopardy even further.
