Before then, Chelsea will look to finish the job they started in the Conference League quarter-final. They will be defending their 3-0 lead in the second leg at Stamford Bridge against Legia Warsaw.

It is the Premier League where the priorities lie though, and there has already been an announcement regarding the West London derby that will not sit well with all aligned with Chelsea.

The official referee announcement confirmed that Anthony Taylor would be in charge of the game, someone who has had some controversial moments involving the Blues.

Chelsea fans fume at Anthony Taylor in charge of Blues clash with Fulham

Chelsea fans have taken to social media to share their distaste to the fact that the Englishman was going to be in the middle of what could be a crucial game for their campaign.

One user said: “Taylor to put the final nail in the coffin. I cba.”

Another added: “It should be called Fulham and Anthony Taylor vs Chelsea on Sunday.”

A third claimed: “Anthony Taylor will referee Fulham vs Chelsea. Get ready to be hurt again.”

Finally, one user said: “Yh Conference league will see us again next szn. Anthony Taylor is the final nail in Chelsea bed. Already see it Fulham 2 – 0 Chelsea & some Chelsea player will get a red card.”

Former Chelsea players feelings on Anthony Taylor

As well as Chelsea supporters, some of those who have taken to the pitch for the Blues do not have the best opinion of Taylor.

Thiago Silva was upset that Taylor had been named as the referee for Chelsea’s opening game of the season, with him having multiple run ins with the official in the past.

Cesc Fabregas and Jose Mourinho lost it with Taylor too after they felt a decision that went against them saw them drop points in a title race a decade ago.

The Blues have won two and lost one under Taylor’s authority this season, however one of those games saw them involved in the match with the most yellow cards in Premier League history, the 1-0 win over Bournemouth.
