Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca is under pressure to deliver Champions League football to Stamford Bridge again after a two-season absence so far from the competition.
The boss is going to need to pull some huge results out in their final five games on the season, with their destiny in their own hands as they take on Newcastle and Nottingham Forest before the end of the campaign.

Maresca appears calm in his persona at this stage. The manager hardly celebrated after Chelsea’s win over Fulham, their first on the road in 2025.
Todd Boehly and co put a lot of faith in Maresca after making the decision to sack Mauricio Pochettino after just one season in charge at Stamford Bridge.

This is despite the Argentine bringing European football back to the club. They are currently dominating in the Conference League, however would have been in the Europa League if Manchester United had not won the FA Cup.
It was reported back in September that Champions League qualification was the target for Maresca, in order to show appropriate progress was being shown by the club under the new manager.
As reported by WhoScored, the Blues are nine points better off at this stage of the campaign than they were in the prior season, making them the third biggest improvers in the league over this time period.
How did Pochettino’s Chelsea do in the last five games of the season?
It is believed that Chelsea will need to secure at least three wins and a draw from their last five games of this season if they are to return to Europe’s elite competition.
While Maresca’s Premier League record is far better than the Argentine’s from last season, he would do well to match Pochettino’s last five games in charge, where Chelsea took maximum points.

A similar string of results would see Chelsea guarantee Champions League football for next season, something which could play a big part in the standard of player they are able to sign when the summer transfer window opens.
