Report: Major twist as Chelsea now favourites to sign 'outstanding' defender this summer
Chelsea’s transfer policy has been very clear since the new owners took over the reins from Roman Abramovich in West London.
Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali have made it their mission to bring in the best young players in world football, with them able to contribute both in the present and the future.
There has been some criticism of their way of operating. Blues fans protested Boehly outside Stamford Bridge before their win against Southampton earlier this year.
Chelsea are expected to be busy in the upcoming summer transfer window, with a number of positions needing addressing ahead of what will be Enzo Maresca’s second season at the helm.
One of those roles is centre-back, with Axel Disasi and Trevoh Chalobah amongst those who are expected to depart this summer.

Chelsea now favourites to sign Dean Huijsen this summer
Dean Huijsen has emerged as a target for a number of top clubs after an excellent campaign with Bournemouth, and Chelsea are amongst those interested.
In what could be a major development in their efforts to sign the Spain international, The Independent have reported that Chelsea are now the favourites to sign Huijsen at the end of the season, as they look to conduct large portions of their business before the Club World Cup.
He would likely be featuring in a backline with Marc Cucurella at Stamford Bridge, just like they have on international duty. Huijsen even overshadowed Cucurella during a Nations League game recently.
The Blues doing the deal before the Club World Cup would allow Bournemouth a full summer to find a suitable replacement for the defender, which could be ideal for a side who have likely accepted they need to leave.

Todd Boehly’s plan huge towards signing Huijsen
A lot has been made of the way Boehly and co secure their signings, with some deals being criticised for the length of contract.
However, they have been able to capture some of the most talented players in football in the process, and have done so with a guarantee of their future at Stamford Bridge.
The report goes on to say that the centre-back is considering a seven-year contract to make the move to West London, should the Blues activate his £50m release clause.
Huijsen, who has been described as ‘outstanding’ by Alan Shearer for The Rest is Football, would come in and be a certain starter for Chelsea, and be a major statement due to the likes of Real Madrid also being linked with the signing.
