‘I cannot say more’: Malo Gusto claims everyone should know one thing about Chelsea's Christopher Nkunku

Malo Gusto has made an interesting claim about Chelsea star Christopher Nkunku amid his teammate’s struggles.

Even though Christopher Nkunku is one of the high-profile players in the current Chelsea squad, it’s been a difficult season for him so far.

On paper, the 27-year-old attacker has made a decent contribution for the Blues this campaign.

However, Nkunku has only scored three times in the Premier League, with the majority of his goals coming in various cup competitions. The reality is that he struggles to find his way into Enzo Maresca’s best XI.

The French attacker usually plays as a striker or left-winger for the Blues, even though his best position is in a central No 10 position. Unfortunately, that role is filled by talisman Cole Palmer.

John Obi Mikel’s thoughts on Nkunku are that he looks lost on the pitch as a centre-forward and is a natural No 10.

Malo Gusto insists Chelsea teammate Christopher Nkunku

Chelsea defender Malo Gusto, 21, claims that everyone knows Nkunku is a “top player” despite some recent struggles.

When asked about Nkunku’s form, Gusto said via Chelsea’s official YouTube channel: “He’s one of my closest guys. Christo is a top player, everyone knows. I don’t know what I can say about him now. He tries to give his best. After is the coach’s choice.”

Troy Deeney called Nkunku a “massive disappointment” for his impact at Chelsea. The truth is that most fans would agree with that assessment.

In particular, it does feel like he’s been really quiet and ineffective in recent weeks.

What does the future look like for Christopher Nkunku?

We struggle to see where Nkunku fits into the Chelsea squad right now, so perhaps the logical step is for him to be sold in the summer.

Recent reports claimed that Nkunku is ‘increasingly likely’ to leave Chelsea in the next transfer window in an attempt to get his career back on track.

Nkunku was an outstanding player at RB Leipzig, scoring 70 goals and creating 55 assists in 172 appearances. He’s not looked like the same attacking force since moving to English football in 2023, though.

At the age of 27, we think he’d be a really attractive option for any top club looking for an attacking playmaker.
