Todd Boehly will be taking Chelsea backwards if he replaces Jadon Sancho with £42m winger this summer - opinion

Jadon Sancho has some work to do in the final weeks of the season if he is to convince those at Chelsea that they should be signing him permanently.

The winger got off to a flying start in a Chelsea shirt, however has gone off the boil since December, with supporters noticing this turn in form.

Sancho is really enjoying his time at Stamford Bridge, however no goals in 2025 is going to make it difficult to convince Chelsea that he is worth the £25m fee they are set to pay for him at the end of the season.

It has been reported that they can pay a small fee to not sign Sancho, instead sending him back to Manchester United for them to deal with.

The most recent report has claimed that Chelsea are currently more likely to not sign Sancho, with them holding interest in a number of other wingers ahead of what will be a busy summer transfer window.

Chelsea going backwards if they replace Jadon Sancho with Jesus Rodriguez

It has been claimed that the Blues are stepping up their interests in signing Real Betis winger Jesus Rodriguez, who has broken into the starting side at the age of just 19.

Previous reports have stated his release clause stands at £42m, a fee that is more than manageable as fat as Chelsea are concerned.

There is a chance the Blues will get a look at the youngster in the Conference League this season, with Chelsea in line to face the La Liga side in the final should they both make it.

If there is one avenue Chelsea need to stop heading down when it comes to new signings, it is young attackers who will be ready to make an impact in a few years’ time.

Estevao Willian and Kendry Paez are set to move to Stamford Bridge at the end of this season, with Geovany Quenda ready to join 12 months after.

The likes of Sancho and Pedro Neto are needing to contribute more now rather than in the future, and any signing made instead of the former should be someone who can do just that.
