What the Polish media are saying about Cole Palmer after his Chelsea display against Legia Warsaw
Enzo Maresca caught everyone by surprise with the Chelsea side he named for the Conference League quarter-final second leg against Legia Warsaw.
Despite the 3-0 lead they had earned from the first leg of the tie, a number of key players started at Stamford Bridge.
This included Cole Palmer, who recently started the Premier League game against Brentford on the bench as he continued his recovery to full fitness.
Despite the strong side, Chelsea were beaten for the first time in the competition, losing 2-1 to Legia on the night.
There were a number of disappointing performances on the night. Our player ratings slammed Nicolas Jackson, whilst Chelsea supporters were not impressed with Reece James playing in midfield again.

Polish media slam Cole Palmer after Chelsea’s defeat to Legia Warsaw
Blues supporters were largely overshadowed by the travelling contingent, with manager Goncalo Feio saying he knew fans were quiet at Stamford Bridge.
Maresca would have been desperate to see Palmer find the net, however the England international endured another frustrating evening as his 2025 woes continue.

Polish media were not too complimentary of Palmer’s performance, with them stating he was kept quiet by 20-year-old defensive midfielder Maxi Oyedele.
Sport PL said: “The second half began with Chelsea attacking, but Kovacevic could not be defeated. Legia’s defense also looked quite confident. Steve Kapuadi’s interventions on the goal line and Maxi Oyedele’s interceptions were key.
“This was definitely the young midfielder’s best game in Legia colors, he impressed with his tenacity and timing. He “put in his pocket” Cole Palmer, Chelsea’s main playmaker.”

Reason behind Palmer’s dip in form
Everyone at Chelsea is desperate to figure out what is going on with Palmer. The attacking midfielder’s dip in form is so incredible because he has proven to be one of the best in the league during his time at the club.
Gary Cahill is not worried by Palmer’s form, stating that he believes it is something that is normal for a player who is his age to go off the boil from time to time.
He said: “What people need to realise is the age that he’s at, you’re going to get dips in form. Everyone goes through periods, and he’ll go through another one, where you have a dip in form. You come back. Cream rises to the top, and he’s a hell of a player. So no, I’m not worried at all.”
With every Premier League game from now until the end of the season absolutely crucial for the Blues, they will be desperate to see him find the net again soon to push them closer to Champions League qualification.
