Chelsea fans are making the same point about Xavi Simons as talks begin, it involves Enzo Maresca
The Chelsea supporters have a lot to say about transfer speculation that they are targeting a move to sign RB Leipzig’s Xavi Simons.
It’s already been a busy summer so far at Chelsea for adding new recruits, but the noise is that they may not be done quite yet.
RB Leipzig playmaker Xavi Simons, 22, has received strong links to the Blues in recent days.
Simons wants to leave Leipzig during this transfer window amid interest from Bayern Munich. In addition, Simons’ agents are now talking with Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham about a potential summer transfer.

Chelsea supporters on social media agree that Leipzig attacker Simons, who can play as a No.10 or winger, would be a brilliant addition at Stamford Bridge.
Here are Blues fans on X arguing that the 22-year-old creator would really suit playing under Enzo Maresca…
One fan wrote: “Simons fits the LW/10 mode. He is the prototype Maresca and the club seem to want.”
“Chelsea needs a player for left wing or attacking midfield who can carry the ball well. Xavi Simons is perfect! His style and skills match Enzo Maresca’s fast, attacking play at Chelsea,” another posted.
One supporter claimed: “Xavi Simons for me. He’s the Typical Maresca player here.”
“Simons more versatile and experienced. He gives different options. A dream player for any tactical coach like Maresca,” another said.
Finally, one fan commented: “Simons has played on the left wing a ton. More than anywhere else. He’d be perfect for Maresca’s new tweaked system.”
In 76 Leipzig appearances, Simons has scored 21 goals and created 23 assists. We agree that, on paper, the Dutch attacker has the versatility and technical skills to be a superb attacking addition to Chelsea’s ranks next season.
As we’ve seen under Maresca, the likes of Cole Palmer and Pedro Neto have thrived moving around into multiple different forward roles.
Simons has been monitored by Chelsea for over a year, so this potential deal may not be as out of the blue as everyone thinks.
Xavi Simons looks up to former Chelsea star
Simons, who has five goals in 28 senior international caps for the Netherlands, looks up to a former Dutch star who played at Chelsea, Arjen Robben.
When asked to name his favourite Dutch player in November 2023, Simons told Leipzig’s website: “I’ve already seen a lot of great Dutch players, but if I had to choose one, then it would be Arjen Robben because he was unbelievably quick and scored so many goals. He was really important for the Oranje, so I’d say him.”
Let’s wait and see if Simons can join the likes of Robben, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink and Ruud Guillit as Dutch players to shine in West London.
